How it works?
Frame AI Glasses feature an AI assistant named NOA, allowing users to obtain the answers they need.
They integrate an onboard camera for object recognition and photo and video capabilities, complemented by a microphone for voice interaction. This combination enables users to access additional information about objects. It includes reading wine labels, identifying buildings or landmarks in their view, reviewing nutritional details of food items while shopping, and receiving real-time language translations.
The Frame system is compatible with a companion mobile app (Noa). Through this app, the always-on AI assistant leverages OpenAI, Whisper, and Perplexity for visual analysis, real-time translations, and web searches.
Brilliant Labs ensures user privacy by refraining from storing prompts or cloud responses. Because Frame and Noa transmit data to the cloud, the AI service receiving the information remains unaware of the sender’s identity. This setup operates like a VPN for AI services, safeguarding user anonymity.
The smart technology behind Frame AI Glasses
The information is presented directly in front of your eyes using micro-OLED display technology. It projects visuals through a “geometric prism” within a relatively narrow 20-degree field of view. The setup can overlay augmented imagery onto the real world, allowing you to, for example, preview virtual furniture in a room before making a purchase decision.
The 640 × 400-pixel display resembles viewing a smartphone, a deliberate choice for all-day wearability. Opting for lower resolution reduces processor strain, allowing Frame to allocate energy more efficiently.
Brilliant Labs’ Frame features a vibrant monocular display that delivers 1,800 nits of brightness, surpassing most smart glasses’ typical 400 to 600 nit range. Frame maintains a lighter design by forgoing speakers, as Brilliant Labs assumes users already possess preferred earbuds, minimizing redundancy.
Software selection aligns with Frame’s design objectives, opting for Lua over MicroPython to enhance efficiency and performance.
Ultra Light Design
Frame AI Glasses are super light, slim, and comfortable glasses that look similar to the “John Lenon” style. This was a significant challenge during development. Most smart glasses that contain a display weigh 75 grams or more. Xreal’s Air 2 stands out with 500 nits of brightness and 72-gram weight. The Frame is much lighter at 39 grams. They provide quick access to text, images, and graphics, aiding users in managing their daily activities.
Frame AI Glasses employs a monocular display for minimal weight and size, visible exclusively through the right eye. Brilliant Labs assures users acclimate to this arrangement, with the brain adeptly simulating a dual-eye viewing experience.
Battery Life of Frame AI Glasses
The glasses also include a whimsical Mister Power charger, which amusingly gives them a “nose” appearance when plugged in.
This charger provides fast charging and promises “all-day battery life.” Frame AI Glasses can sustain usage for three hours using two coin-cell batteries with a combined capacity of 250 mAh. Internal testing conducted by Brilliant Labs suggests regular usage outcomes of around six to seven hours of battery life. The included charger replenishes Frame’s battery within approximately one hour.
Frame AI Glasses aren’t waterproof. They can withstand minor moisture exposure, such as sweat or light rain.

Frame AI Glasses are currently available for pre-order in black, gray, or transparent options for $349. You can get a prescription pair for $448.
Worldwide shipping is scheduled for April 15. While the AI services are complimentary, a daily usage limit exists. A subscription model will be introduced soon.
